We are up with the sun to enjoy our first full day at the beautiful Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. We savor our first sip of coffee and tea prepared in our room with the lovely service provided by the hotel. Of course, gazing at serene Lake Beauvert enhances our peaceful morning.
We take a morning stroll through the entrance gates and see a herd of elk taking a drink. We are ready to enjoy our first breakfast buffet at the lodge and are seated in front of a large picture window to sample the bountiful buffet breakfast that is included with the price of our lodging.
We prepare to set off on the hike to Old Fort Point as recommended by the helpful concierge team. They were right, the two hour hike up offers beautiful views of the valley and the town of Jasper. After the two hour return trip, we relax on our beautiful balcony before heading into town. While in town, we booked the combo sightseeing package that included the Glacier tour, the Banff Gondola, and a boat trip on Lake Minnewanka.
We stopped in at the Patricia Street Deli to ordered a chicken rotisserie dinner to go. We had a perfect picnic on our balcony! We relaxed in the Adirondack chairs along the lakeshore and then decided to take a ride toward Maligne Lake to see if we would be able to spot any wildlife. On the route back, we were feeling disappointed when a big black bear strolled right into the road in front of us. We got an up close and personal look of “yogi” enjoying his berries for dinner! Now, that was one great day!
